Contributions vital to our community’s library services.

In 1953, a group of committed citizens founded the Lake Wales Library Association with the goal of building a public library.  By 1960, our library was built.  In 1991, members of the Lake Wales Library Association said, “Let’s expand our library”, and they did.  In 2013 the growing membership again improved our library by funding Project Renovation, a remodeling of our 20,000 square foot building.

With the help of your membership dollars our library’s impact on our community continues to grow.  Each of you has played an important role in our accomplishments.  You should feel justifiably proud.  Some of the highlights from 2022 include:

  • Sponsored two Lake Wales elementary schools’ 4th grade field trip to the 2022 Cracker Storytelling Festival, Janie Howard Wilson Elementary School and Babson Park Elementary School.

  • Assisted library staff with professional memberships and educational opportunities.

  • Funded a variety of library programs for children, teens, and adults including Lifelong Learning Classes for Adults.

  • Sponsored the Tower Lane Pass program, a partnership with Bok Tower Gardens providing ten family passes to Bok Tower Gardens for one-week checkout to library patrons.

  • Contributed to the Lake Wales Public Library’s books and materials budget.

  • Supported United Way of Central Florida’s Success by Six ~ Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The LWLA’s sponsorship allows Lake Wales infants to receive a free book from birth until their fifth birthday.

With your tax deductible membership renewal, we can do even more.
